A tragic incident unfolded in the South Shore neighborhood, where a 17-year-old boy, Davion Pryor, is now being charged as an adult in the fatal shooting of his mother, Tatanisha Jackson. The details of the case are chilling, as prosecutors allege that Pryor shot his mother in front of family members, including his father and 7-year-old brother, in a horrifying display of violence.

The events leading up to the shooting paint a grim picture of betrayal and tragedy. Pryor reportedly called his mother minutes before the incident, under the pretext of alerting her about people drinking on their back porch. However, upon her arrival at their home on Cornell Avenue, Pryor allegedly opened the door from the other side and shot her four times in the head at point-blank range. Witnesses, including a man getting off work nearby, recounted hearing over a dozen gunshots that shattered the peace of the neighborhood.

First responders discovered Tatanisha Jackson with multiple gunshot wounds and recovered 12 shell casings and a gun at the scene. Despite fleeing initially, Pryor turned himself in to the police several hours later. Shockingly, it was revealed that Pryor had two pending cases in juvenile court for aggravated battery and vehicular hijacking, despite being on home confinement at the time of the shooting.

During the court appearance, Judge David Kelly expressed visible emotion, remarking on the tragic nature of the case and the devastating impact on the family. Pryor's grandmother disclosed his struggles with mental health issues and non-compliance with medication, prompting the judge to order a mental health evaluation as the next step in the legal proceedings. The community mourns the loss of Tatanisha Jackson, a mother of three, in the wake of this heartbreaking and senseless act of violence.
