Washington Manā€™s Chilling Note Found on Freezer Containing His Parentsā€™ Remains

A Washington man allegedly left a chilling note on the freezer where he stored his murdered parentsā€™ remains, months before he took his own life in what police describe as a grisly murder-suicide.

Shane Vosler, 33, is accused of fatally stabbing his parents, William, 68, and Eileen, 66, in July and storing their remains in a garage freezer at their Puyallup home. The crime remained undiscovered for six months until concerned neighborsā€™ calls prompted police action.

The Pierce County Sheriffā€™s Office conducted multiple welfare checks in late December after neighbors reported unusual activity, including the repossession of one of Williamā€™s trucks. Deputies finally entered the home on New Yearā€™s Eve, where they discovered the freezer leaking fluid. Taped to it were two notes reading: "Time of Death July 24th 5:45 am" and "Time of Death July 24th, 3 pm."

Inside the house, police found Shaneā€™s girlfriend, Sue Bin Lee, 34, dead in an upstairs bedroom and Shane deceased in the connected bathroom. Both had gunshot wounds to the head, with the medical examiner ruling Shaneā€™s death a suicide. Leeā€™s cause of death remains undetermined due to the bulletā€™s unclear trajectory.

Investigators determined William died from stab wounds to the chest, while Eileen suffered stab wounds to the chest and neck, along with blunt force trauma. Neighbors said the couple were reclusive, which may have contributed to the delay in discovering their deaths.

The case gained attention after neighbors noted the sudden cessation of activity at the Vosler home. One neighbor, Bill Bosma, said, ā€œWe noticed a lot of activity in the driveway before, but suddenly it stopped.ā€ His wife, Cheri, added, ā€œIt confirmed our fears.ā€

Deputiesā€™ initial welfare checks were inconclusive due to a lack of evidence. However, a breakthrough came on December 29 when officers contacted William and Eileenā€™s other two sons. Upon entering the home, one of the sons discovered Leeā€™s body in a blood-soaked room and alerted police.

Officers noted a strong odor of decomposition upon arrival and recovered weapons, a cellphone, and additional notes about the time of death. Shaneā€™s body was found in the locked bathroom, which displayed a bullet hole in the door and dried blood underneath.

Authorities believe the coupleā€™s deaths went unnoticed due to their isolation. ā€œThis is a really sad case because the mother and father werenā€™t very active in the community,ā€ said Sheriffā€™s Sgt. Darren Cappetto. ā€œI think they were very comfortable in the environments of their home.ā€

As no suspects remain alive, authorities plan to close the case, noting, ā€œWe donā€™t have anyone to charge.ā€
