Russell Antonio Moore, 36, has been charged with first-degree murder after deputies discovered his mother, Shambray Lavern Levy, dead in their Westchase home.
A Florida man has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder following the death of his mother in their Westchase home, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies responded to a 911 call around 8:30 a.m. Monday from 36-year-old Russell Antonio Moore, who mentioned concerns about his mental health. When authorities arrived at the residence on Beaty Grove Drive, Moore made threatening statements regarding his mother, 54-year-old Shambray Lavern Levy, during an interview.
Discovery of the Crime
After investigating further, deputies found Levy deceased inside the home with severe trauma to her upper body. Sheriff Chad Chronister expressed condolences for the family in a public statement.
“This is an incredibly heartbreaking and tragic situation for the family and everyone involved,” Chronister said. “Our deputies acted swiftly to investigate, and an arrest has been made. Our hearts go out to the loved ones affected by this unimaginable loss, and we will do everything we can to support them during this difficult time.”

Moore has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence related to a capital felony. Investigators continue to work on the case to uncover additional details surrounding the incident.
