Authorities are investigating a tragic double homicide after a mother and her 4-year-old daughter were ambushed on Florida's Turnpike. Three men face first-degree murder charges in connection with the incident.

Broward County, FL – Authorities have charged three Florida men with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a mother and her 4-year-old daughter while they were driving on Florida's Turnpike last summer.

The Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) announced the arrest of 20-year-old Kamarri Sanders, who was taken into custody in Miami Gardens by homicide detectives and the department's Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response (VIPER) unit. His arrest follows the December apprehensions of Antoine Harris, 28, and Jaquan Thomas, 29, who were also charged in connection with the brutal slayings of Beatrice Saintvil, 28, and her young daughter, Janelle Souffrant.

Investigators say the three suspects opened fire on Saintvil's vehicle on the night of June 7, 2024, around 11:15 p.m., as she drove near Hollywood Boulevard and Mile Marker 49. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the car riddled with bullets, parked on the left shoulder of the turnpike. Both victims had suffered fatal gunshot wounds—Souffrant died at the scene, while Saintvil was rushed to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Heartbreaking details from a 911 call placed by Saintvil reveal her desperate attempts to comfort her daughter in their final moments. According to a dispatcher's report obtained by WSVN, Saintvil repeatedly asked, "Where's the baby?" and urged, "Get up, get up."

Anyley Cabrera, a driver on the scene, recalled the horrifying aftermath. "The car was destroyed," she told CBS Miami affiliate WFOR, describing the extent of the damage from the gunfire.

Authorities have yet to determine a clear motive for the attack. Last year, detectives considered whether road rage played a role or if the victims were deliberately targeted. "This is one of those cases that truly breaks your heart," said BSO spokesperson Claudinne Caro. "We're talking about a mom and her 4-year-old daughter shot to death inside their vehicle."

Harris was arrested in Miami Gardens on December 20 following a months-long investigation. Thomas was already incarcerated in Georgia for unrelated charges when he was hit with the murder charges. He is now awaiting extradition to Florida. Sanders, the latest suspect arrested, remains in custody at the BSO Main Jail.

Authorities are still seeking more information about the case. "Detectives have more questions than answers and need the public to come forward," Caro urged last June. "Somebody must have heard something. Somebody could have seen something."
