Authorities in Florida have arrested a woman accused of making dangerous threats against a daycare center amid a prolonged custody battle.
Hany Matozes More, 38, was taken into custody by the Broward Sheriff's Office in August 2024 on charges including child abuse, child neglect, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest. Following her arrest, she lost custody of her then-2-month-old daughter. While she was initially released on bond, court records indicate that her legal troubles are far from over, with an active case still pending in Broward County.
The latest allegations against More stem from a series of troubling incidents at a KinderCare facility in Boynton Beach, a city within the Miami metro area.
A Pattern of Escalating Behavior
According to an arrest report obtained by WPEC, More first appeared at the daycare on New Year’s Eve 2024 but was turned away. Nearly a month later, on Jan. 23, she allegedly tried to take her daughter directly from the facility but was again stopped.
Authorities say her actions became increasingly alarming in the days that followed. On Jan. 29, staff discovered a hole in the day care's fence. Even more concerning, a tracking device was allegedly found hidden inside a stuffed animal that More had given to the child.
On Jan. 30, More reportedly returned to the KinderCare once again—this time carrying a butane torch and a fire extinguisher. She allegedly approached the foster parent but was intercepted by a security guard and turned away. However, law enforcement later found two backpacks containing gasoline nearby. Authorities say they discovered More's Cuban identification card inside one of the bags.
Adding to the severity of the case, the foster parent received an audio message via WhatsApp, allegedly from a family member of More’s. Investigators claim the voice on the recording was More's, and in the message, she threatened to burn down the daycare if her daughter was not returned to her.
Facing Serious Charges
More is currently being held without bond in the Palm Beach County Jail on a charge of intimidation—specifically, making electronic threats to kill, cause bodily harm, or commit an act of mass violence.
This is not her first run-in with the law. Court records indicate that her 2024 arrest was linked to an alleged vandalism spree in which she was accused of damaging another person's property—all while holding her infant daughter.
According to deputies, More arrived at a man's home late at night and allegedly used a blunt object, possibly a high heel, to strike his door. She then reportedly broke a motorcycle mirror and dented the hood of his car.
Disturbingly, authorities noted that throughout the ordeal, she was holding her baby in a reckless manner, nearly dropping her multiple times as the infant cried hysterically. Fortunately, the child did not suffer any serious injuries.
Ongoing Investigation
As More remains in custody, law enforcement continues investigating the case, and the legal process is unfolding. This troubling situation highlights the complexities and dangers that can arise in high-conflict custody disputes.
