A Florida woman is facing serious charges after allegedly running over her ex-boyfriend with her Range Rover in a fit of anger over his involvement with another woman.
Yoshabelle Edouard, 19, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm following the dramatic confrontation in Punta Gorda. According to authorities, the ordeal began when her ex-boyfriend, 20-year-old Kervens S. Saintil, admitted to being involved with both Edouard and another woman at the same time.
Earlier that day, Saintil accused Edouard of vandalizing his car by throwing eggs at it and covering it in ketchup and mustard. Later, as he walked through his apartment complex with his new girlfriend and friends, he spotted Edouard behind the wheel of her white Range Rover. What happened next turned dangerous.
According to witnesses, Edouard made a sharp turn and accelerated toward Saintil. He attempted to get out of the way, but the SUV struck him, sending him onto the hood and smashing the windshield. The impact left him with multiple lacerations on his arm, shoulder, and hip.
Saintil described the terrifying moment: "Before you know it, Iām seeing black and Iām on the floor. My body literally flew in the air.ā He also emphasized the size of the vehicle that hit him, exclaiming, āNot no sedanāa Range Rover!ā
His girlfriend and other witnesses confirmed that Edouard was driving fast enough to cause harm, though she was not at full speed.
When questioned by detectives, Edouard admitted to being upset over the situation. She claimed that she had been on the phone with Saintilās other girlfriend while they discussed the earlier food-related vandalism. She also alleged that Saintil "jumped onto her vehicle" as she drove past, but admitted she had no intention of stopping or slowing down.
Edouard was taken into custody at the Charlotte County Jail and later released on bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on March 10.
