Florida Woman Charged with Murder After Husband’s Fatal Stabbing
Terry Taylor, 58, is in custody after being charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of her husband, Stanley Taylor, 67. The incident unfolded on January 13 in Boca Raton, Florida, when police responded to a reported medical emergency at the couple’s residence around 10:30 a.m. Officers found Stanley suffering from a severe stab wound to the torso.
Contradictory Explanations and Victim’s Last Words
Terry initially told neighbors to report that her husband had “fallen on a knife” while cutting something in the kitchen. She later claimed to police that he was experiencing a diabetic episode when he accidentally injured himself. However, while receiving medical attention, Stanley contradicted her story, allegedly telling responders, “The bitch stabbed me,” and accusing her of trying to kill him.
The Heated Altercation
Police learned that the altercation began over a stereo system that Stanley had sold to his brother. Terry admitted to a “physical struggle” involving a wooden cane. According to her statement, she reached for a second cane, which was equipped with a hidden blade, and “went at him with it.” She demonstrated a swinging motion during her confession, describing the cane as an “illegal brass cane with a sharp point.”
Evidence and Aftermath
Authorities believe Terry attempted to clean the scene and the murder weapon before police arrived. A medical examination later revealed that Stanley’s injuries, which included two deep stab wounds near his back, were not consistent with a diabetic episode as Terry had claimed. Tragically, Stanley succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.
Legal Proceedings
Terry Taylor has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bond at the Palm Beach County Jail. Police continue to investigate the case to uncover additional details.
