A 25-year-old Georgia woman now faces felony charges in connection with the fatal shooting of her 30-year-old Black boyfriend, Telvin Osborne. Osborne was pronounced dead on Sunday, February 23, at a local hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to his chest.

According to Burke County deputies, Osborne’s girlfriend, Hannah Cobb, reported the incident around 5:45 a.m. Cobb explained that she and Osborne had just returned home after spending the night out when she began her nightly routine of checking her firearm. She claimed the gun unexpectedly discharged, striking Osborne in the chest—an incident she maintains occurred as she believed the weapon was safe.

Initially, authorities did not arrest Cobb immediately, sparking outrage on social media and within the community.

However, after a thorough investigation, Sheriff Alfonzo Williams concluded that the shooting was not accidental. On Tuesday, February 25, Cobb was arrested and booked on a felony involuntary manslaughter charge. Investigators noted that alcohol was involved in the altercation, which reportedly escalated with pushing and shoving before the firearm was discharged. Sheriff Williams stated, “It is reckless to go out and get drunk and then introduce a firearm into an argument.” The case is currently being treated as a homicide, and authorities have indicated that charges may be upgraded pending further evidence.

Adding to the controversy, Osborne’s social media history has ignited a heated debate online. Osborne had posted inflammatory content prior to his death, with one video reportedly showing him stating, "I'll fk a dog before I fk a black b***, it gotta be a white dog though," and another post in which he declared, "My name Telbo Rackin but when you see me I'm white." These remarks have fueled a contentious dialogue on social media, with many users expressing reluctance to support his family in light of his past comments.

The investigation continues to unfold as the community grapples with the tragedy and the complexities of the public statement legacy of Osborn.

Authorities closely examine all evidence to ensure justice is served, while local residents remain divided over the implications of Osborne's offensive online behavior amid their mourning.
