LaPlace, Louisiana – A 24-year-old woman, Tamyrihu Hubbard, has been charged with second-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing her boyfriend, Joshua Jones, 23, during a heated argument over breakfast on Sunday morning.
According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office, the couple ate together when the argument began. Hubbard had eaten much of the meal, leaving very little for Jones, leading to frustration. This sparked a confrontation that tragically ended with Hubbard allegedly shooting Jones with one of his own firearms.
Hubbard called 911 herself and reported that the shooting was accidental. She told deputies that the altercation over the food escalated, and during their argument, she unintentionally shot Jones in the chest. Authorities arrived at the home on E. Lakeview Drive in LaPlace to find Jones unresponsive with a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff Mike Tregre stated that while Hubbard claimed the shooting was accidental, evidence gathered at the scene suggests otherwise. Hubbard was arrested without incident and booked into the parish jail on a $1 million bond. As of Tuesday, she remains in custody, facing charges in connection with Jones' death. The case continues to be investigated.
