Milwaukee, WI ā A 31-year-old Milwaukee man is facing serious felony charges after allegedly throwing a 1-year-old girl over a second-story balcony during a violent altercation. Jaimann Eiland was arrested on March 15, 2025, and remains in custody at the Milwaukee County Jail.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by local news outlets, the disturbing incident occurred on March 13, when an argument escalated between Eiland and Shakira Walters, the mother of the baby girl. Walters told police the dispute began after she heard her daughter crying and confronted Eiland. The argument quickly intensified. Eiland reportedly armed himself with a knife and threatened Walters, allegedly saying, āYou gonā die today.ā
As the situation grew more volatile, Eiland is accused of grabbing the baby by the head, dangling her over the railing of Walters' second-floor apartment, and intentionally dropping her onto the wet grass below. The child narrowly missed hitting an air conditioning unit during the fall. Despite the terrifying ordeal, the child only sustained minor bruising, according to Walters.
āShe couldāve died. She couldāve gotten hurt from that,ā Walters told WISN 12 News. āIām just mad, but Iām thankful sheās alive.ā
After allegedly dropping the baby, Eiland reportedly returned inside the apartment and physically assaulted Walters, resulting in injuries that required medical attention. Walters later took herself and her daughter to Froedtert Hospital for treatment. Medical reports confirm that Walters suffered a laceration to her forehead that required three stitches, a sprained finger, and swelling in her hand and leg. Her shirt was reportedly stained with blood when she arrived at the hospital. The baby was evaluated and treated for minor injuries.
Responding officers recovered a bloody knife from Waltersā residence, consistent with the description she provided to investigators.
During an interview with police following his arrest, Eiland allegedly admitted that he and Walters had engaged in a "tug-of-war" over the baby before he let go and dropped the child from the balcony. He acknowledged that the situation "went too far" but maintained that he did not believe he acted excessively.
Eiland is charged with substantial battery with a domestic abuse modifier and child abuse. He made his initial court appearance on March 17, where his bail was $15,000. If he posts bond, he must wear an electronic monitoring device and have no contact with Walters or other family members involved in the case.
Eiland is due back in Milwaukee County Court on March 24 for his next appearance as the case progresses.
Authorities have not released additional details, but court documents reveal the gravity of the charges Eiland faces as the investigation continues.
