Ohio Teacher’s Aide Arrested for Alleged Rape of Teen with Intellectual Disability
An Ohio teacher’s aide is under arrest for allegedly engaging in inappropriate conduct with a 15-year-old student who has the mental capacity of a 9-year-old. Authorities claim Christin Coble, 45, was discovered at the student’s home by his mother during a snow day when schools were closed.
Coble, a paraprofessional with the Woodmore Local School District, is charged with felony rape after the incident on Monday in Sandusky County. The boy’s mother told local ABC affiliate WTVG that her son has an intellectual disability and was home due to inclement weather. She found Coble at her home with her son and immediately called the authorities.
“Our family is absolutely devastated over all of this,” the mother stated.
Sandusky County Sheriff Chris Hilton confirmed the investigation is ongoing and that “additional charges may be filed.”
Coble made a court appearance on Wednesday and was granted a $100,000 bond. Her case will proceed to a grand jury.
Dr. Schaeffer, Superintendent of Woodmore Local Schools, said in a statement, “While the District cannot comment on an ongoing investigation or the personally identifiable information of students, the District’s primary concern is always the safety and well-being of its students.”
A law firm representing the victim’s family described the past 48 hours as “unimaginable” for both the teen and his mother. While most details remain private, the mother confirmed to WTVG that she called the police on Coble after discovering her with her son.
Authorities are also exploring potential burglary charges, as Coble’s method of entering the residence remains unclear.
