A 20-year-old Pennsylvania man is facing numerous charges after allegedly attacking his parents and resisting arrest when his mother refused to give him money to buy marijuana, police said.

Evan Gabriel Houseman has been charged with assault, strangulation, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and harassment, according to online court records.

The incident occurred on January 5 at the familyā€™s home on Sam Snead Circle in Newberry Township, approximately 100 miles west of Philadelphia. Police were dispatched after Housemanā€™s father called 911, reporting that his son was assaulting his wife. Dispatchers could hear the struggle in the background of the call, according to the criminal complaint.

The trouble reportedly began the night before when Houseman asked his mother to transfer money to him for marijuana. After she declined, the situation escalated. Houseman allegedly began threatening suicide, claiming he would ā€œoverdose on pills.ā€

The following morning, the conflict turned physical. According to police, Houseman grabbed his motherā€™s head, pushed it toward the floor, and placed her in a headlock, threatening to apply pressure to her neck if she didnā€™t hand over his medication.

The situation worsened when Housemanā€™s father intervened. After an argument, Houseman allegedly threw a TV and Xbox down the stairs, damaging both and the wall. When his father went to check the damage, Houseman reportedly pushed him down the stairs, causing him to hit his head on the garage door.

The father tried to distance himself by going outside, but Houseman followed, allegedly pushing him to the ground in the driveway and placing him in another headlock. Houseman reportedly threatened to ā€œkill himā€ and ā€œtake you both outā€ before letting his father go and using a stick to damage his fatherā€™s vehicle.

When police arrived, they ordered Houseman to comply, but he refused and began walking toward his father. Officers had to use a Taser to subdue him. While in custody, Houseman allegedly kicked officers multiple times ā€œin sensitive areas.ā€

Both parents were hospitalized due to their injuries. Houseman was taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation before being booked into York County Prison.

Houseman is scheduled to appear in court on February 5.
