A Pennsylvania man is facing murder charges after allegedly shooting his pregnant girlfriend in the head while she watched TV, claiming he was "fried" and unaware of his actions, according to police.

Incident Details

Kaiheem Jerelle Williams, 19, is accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend, Tanyiah Bell, also 19, in their Lansdowne apartment on Nov. 14. Bell was eight months pregnant at the time.

According to the Lansdowne Police Department, Williams called 911 and reported, “My baby’s shot.” When first responders arrived, Williams allegedly told them, “I was fried, man. I was outside smoking … I was in there,” referring to being under the influence.

Police say Williams used a .45-caliber handgun to shoot Bell in the head. Officers rushed her to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in an effort to save the unborn child.

Tragic Outcomes

Doctors performed emergency surgery, delivering the baby alive. However, police report the child remains on life support with minimal brain activity and is unlikely to survive without machines.

Williams' Statements and Evidence

During questioning, Williams claimed he "blacked out" after returning home from the store. He stated that Bell was fine, watching TV in the bedroom, and his next memory was calling 911 after the shooting.

Doorbell footage captured Williams leaving the apartment approximately 15 minutes before reporting the incident. Police also found a .45-caliber bullet in his pocket.

Legal and Community Reactions

Williams was arrested on Nov. 15 and charged with first-degree murder. He is set for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 25.

Lansdowne Police Chief Ken Rutherford described the case as “heartbreaking and disturbing,” commending officers and detectives for their dedication in pursuing justice for Bell and her family.

Family’s Response

Bell’s family started a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses, remembering her as a bright young woman whose life was tragically cut short just days after her 19th birthday.

“Tanyiah was brutally murdered just two days after celebrating her 19th birthday,” the fundraiser reads. “This loss is indescribable.”
