San Antonio family fears for child's safety after man in custody, Jose Teran Jr., faces charges for offering $500,000 for baby and admitting to buying children for organs.

San Antonio, Texas ā€“ Family Terrified After Man Allegedly Offers $500K to Buy Their Baby

A San Antonio family is living in fear after a bizarre and disturbing series of text messages left them fearing for their childā€™s safety. Jose Teran Jr., a man who was already in custody for an unrelated crime, is now facing additional charges for offering $500,000 to buy the familyā€™s baby and admitting to purchasing children for their organs, according to police.

A Chilling Text Conversation

It all began in late December when the babyā€™s mother sent a group text to family members, inviting them to her daughterā€™s upcoming baptism. But moments after the text was sent, the mother received a horrifying reply from an unknown number.

ā€œThatā€™s a nice Caucasian baby, how much do you want?ā€ the text read, according to an arrest affidavit.

Stunned, the mother responded, telling the sender they had the wrong number. She immediately blocked the number, but the chilling messages didnā€™t stop. Other family members still included in the group thread reported additional texts from the same number, with Teran allegedly raising the stakes.

ā€œAre you not interested in selling? Iā€™m willing to start the bid at 500k,ā€ he texted, according to the arrest warrant.

A Terrifying Phone Call

Alarmed by the texts, the childā€™s father called the number to confront the sender. What he heard was even more horrifying. Police say Teran allegedly confirmed he was serious about purchasing the baby and stated he was willing to pay in either cash or bitcoin. Teran then admitted his intentions, reportedly telling the father that he buys babies for their organs.

Family Takes Action

Terrified for their childā€™s safety, the family immediately installed a home security system and began carefully monitoring their neighborhood for suspicious activity. They contacted law enforcement, who launched an investigation into the text messages.

Detectives traced the phone number back to Jose Teran Jr. It was then they discovered he was already in jail, booked on an unrelated charge stemming from a road rage incident.

Road Rage Shooting and Arrest

Just days before the text messages surfaced, Teran had been arrested in connection with a road rage shooting along Interstate 35 in San Antonio. Police say Teran, the driver of an SUV, allegedly shot at the driver of a big rig during the altercation.

When detectives questioned Teran about the text messages, he reportedly admitted to sending them but tried to downplay the situation, claiming he believed the group text was spam.

The Charges Against Teran

Teran now faces two serious charges: the purchase/sale of human organs and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. If convicted, these charges could carry significant prison time.

A Family Left Shaken

The bizarre nature of this case has left the family in shock and fearing for their lives. While they are relieved that Teran is behind bars, the trauma of the incident lingers. They have taken extra precautions to protect their children and home, but the disturbing nature of Teranā€™s alleged actions has shaken their sense of security.

Community Outrage and Concerns

This case has sparked outrage in the San Antonio community and beyond. Advocates are using the incident as a reminder of the dangers of child exploitation and the importance of reporting suspicious activity.

A Call for Vigilance

Incidents like this are a stark reminder of the threats that can lurk in everyday life. Law enforcement urges anyone who receives unusual or threatening messages to report them immediately. Parents are also encouraged to take steps to protect their children, including maintaining strong communication and being vigilant about their surroundings.
