A newly released arrest warrant accusing a Jacksonville mother, Zayla Goodwin, and her boyfriend, Nathaniel Davis, of child neglect has shed light on the tragic death of 22-month-old Zamora Foe. Goodwin and Davis are currently held in the Duval County Jail on $500,000 bonds.

On September 10, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department paramedics responded to a call at Goodwin and Davis' home, where Zamora had gone into cardiac arrest and was unresponsive. She was rushed to Wolfson Children's Hospital in critical condition, where doctors expressed doubt about her survival due to her injuries.

A search of the home uncovered disturbing evidence, including multiple bloody bandages, blankets, and diapers. Additionally, authorities found meth and drug paraphernalia during a second search. A woman, whose name was redacted, disclosed that bruises were present on Zamora and she noticed the child had stopped walking. Goodwin claimed Zamora's injuries resulted from a fall in the bathtub while Davis was bathing her.

Further investigation revealed suspected sexual abuse of the toddler, with detailed information redacted from the warrant. Tom Hackney, former Director of Investigations for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, commented on the severity of Zamora's injuries, indicating a pattern of abuse.

Zamora's biological father, Brandon Foe, shared his devastation upon learning of his daughter's passing after being taken off life support. He was informed by police that Zamora had suffered sexual abuse and extensive injuries throughout her body. Goodwin and Davis were arrested on child neglect charges for failing to seek medical help for Zamora's injuries.

Hackney suggested that additional charges may be brought against Goodwin and Davis following Zamora's death, as autopsies can distinguish between old and new injuries. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Zamora's funeral expenses.

This tragic case serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable children and advocating for justice for victims of abuse. The community mourns the loss of young Zamora and seeks accountability for those responsible for her untimely passing.
