Texas Mom Allegedly Beats Kids with Dog Leash, Threatens to Burn Hair Over Tissue

Texas mother charged with child abuse for allegedly beating her children with a dog leash and threatening to burn their hair over a minor incident.

Katy, TX – A Texas mother has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of child abuse after allegedly beating her four children with a dog leash and threatening to burn their hair on a gas stove over a misplaced tissue, according to court records.

Ebony Gonzalez, 31, faces four counts of injury to a child following the alleged incident at her home in Katy, a Houston suburb, on Wednesday morning. Investigators say Gonzalez became enraged after discovering a tissue on the floor and demanded to know who was responsible. When none of her children—two 11-year-olds, an 8-year-old, and a 6-year-old—admitted to it, she allegedly struck each of them with a dog leash.

Authorities say the situation escalated when Gonzalez reportedly turned on a gas stove and threatened to burn the children's hair if they didn't confess.

The abuse came to light when one of the "terrified" children passed a note to a friend detailing the incident. The friend immediately alerted authorities, leading to an investigation.

Detectives removed the children from the home and observed physical injuries on three of them, including red welts and bruises on their backs. One child claimed their mother pulled their hair and kicked them, while another refused to speak with investigators but had visible marks, according to the affidavit.

Gonzalez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. She has since posted a $10,000 bond for each charge and was appointed an attorney. She is currently prohibited from having unsupervised contact with her children, who are now in the care of their grandmother. Child Protective Services has launched an investigation. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
