Texas Mother Allegedly Locked Daughter in Dog Cage as Punishment for School Misbehavior

Rose Marie Anderson, 55, is facing two felony charges—unlawful restraint and injury to a child—after police say she locked her daughter in a dog cage as punishment. The incident reportedly occurred on December 13, just days before Christmas, in a shocking case of alleged child abuse.

Details of the Incident

According to court documents, Anderson zip-tied her daughter’s arms, duct-taped her mouth shut, and placed her in a dog cage near the family’s Christmas tree. Authorities allege the girl was confined in the cage for several hours, during which Anderson would occasionally kick the cage.

The alleged punishment stemmed from the child’s behavior at school, which Anderson reportedly deemed unacceptable.

Legal Proceedings

Anderson has been charged with unlawful restraint and injury to a child, both serious felony offenses. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident to determine if additional charges may be warranted.
