Texas Mother Found Dead; Boyfriend Arrested in Murder Investigation
Taterea McGuire, a 32-year-old mother of four from Texas, was tragically found shot to death in a Fort Worth field on December 5. Her boyfriend, LeDarren Tilley, 37, has been arrested and charged with her murder, with key information provided by McGuire’s children aiding in the investigation.
Discovery and Initial Investigation
McGuire’s body was discovered by a landscaper mowing a gated property owned by the City of Fort Worth Water Department. She was partially clothed, wearing only a shirt, underwear, socks, and one shoe. Her mother had reported her missing on December 3 after McGuire failed to return calls and messages.
Local police conducted a welfare check at McGuire’s Arlington residence but found no trace of her. Tilley, her boyfriend, told authorities he last saw her on December 2 when she left their home alone.
Children’s Accounts Contradict Boyfriend’s Story
McGuire’s children, who are not related to Tilley, shared a different account with detectives. They reported that their mother and Tilley had left the house together, but Tilley returned the next morning alone to take them to school. He claimed McGuire was with someone else and unable to take them, contradicting his statement to police.
The children also revealed a history of domestic violence between McGuire and Tilley, which had been ongoing for months. They mentioned Tilley regularly carried a firearm, either on his person or in his vehicle.
Evidence Linking Tilley to the Crime
Surveillance footage and GPS data contradicted Tilley’s claim of not being near the area where McGuire’s body was found. He admitted to being the sole driver of his white Chevrolet Tahoe on the day of her disappearance. The data placed him at the secluded location where McGuire’s body was later discovered.
Detectives also noted inconsistencies in Tilley’s statements. While he admitted to prior arguments with McGuire, he claimed they were “getting along” before her disappearance.
Family Seeks Justice and Support
McGuire’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses, describing her as “the sweetest person who would do anything for anyone.” Her death has left her four children without a mother.
“This is an incredibly difficult time, and the family needs support,” the campaign reads.
Tilley is currently being held in Tarrant County Jail on a $250,000 bond. Police cited the children’s testimony, surveillance footage, and Tilley’s false statements as critical evidence in the case.
Raising Awareness
This tragic case underscores the importance of addressing domestic violence and supporting victims. McGuire’s death is a devastating reminder of the dangers many face in abusive relationships.
