After disappearing from Texas in 2005, Amanda Overstreet was discovered in the freezer of her biological mother. She was 15 years old when she went missing.
Amanda Overstreet was raised in Kountze, Texas, and was taken in by her grandmother, Nelda Overstreet, when she was three years old. Due to neglect and abuse, Amanda's biological mother, Leanne Imer, lost custody of her.
Amanda attended school in Kountze from elementary school until the time she went missing. While also spending time at Warren ISD during the 2004/05 school year as multiple classmates have images of her attending school at both locations.
During 2004/05, Nelda (Amanda’s grandmother who adopted and raised her) tragically fell ill with lung cancer. Following Nelda's passing, no one in Amanda's family was prepared or able to provide her with a home, leading her to reside with her estranged biological mother Leanne and Leanne's husband Bradley Imer, along with their daughter Elsie Imer, reside in Grand Junction, CO. Many suspect that this living situation was not established through legal means since Amanda had been formally taken away from LeeAnn's care. It seems that the decision was made by distant relatives who believed they had no alternative.
Shortly after Amanda started living with Leanne in Colorado, LeeAnn contacted relatives in Kountze and informed them that she was unable to continue caring for Amanda. LeeAnn requested financial assistance to bring Amanda back to Texas, but Amanda never returned. Leanne informed relatives that Amanda had run away at a truck stop in Amarillo, Texas. After being unable to locate her, Leanne returned home to Colorado. There are no official records of Amanda being reported missing or as a runaway.
In 2017, Amanda's classmates banded together when they were still clueless about Amanda's location. Despite Leanne's advice to cease the search, insisting that Amanda had run away, the group persisted in their efforts. They scoured databases, tried to file missing persons reports, but faced rejection from authorities due to lack of family support.
Despite Amanda's friends and classmates contacting relatives, they were informed by one relative that Leanne claimed in 2005 that Amanda had died from an overdose and that she had "secretly buried her." However, Leanne maintains that Amanda is simply a runaway and even mentioned to someone that she believed Amanda had changed her name and was now residing in a different state. The relative suspects that Leanne resorted to the "secret burial" out of fear that her daughter Elsie would be taken away from her custody, as she was prohibited from having any children under her care within the Texas CPS system.
Leeann has had several infants taken away from her by CPS right after they were born because of sexual abuse and neglect. Despite not acknowledging Amanda's presence, Leeann frequently mentions her daughter Elsie. It is alleged that Bradley and Leeann would warn Elsie that "if she didn't behave, she would end up like her older sister allegedly.
Leanne's husband Bradley Imer passed away from Covid in 2021, prompting her to organize a fundraiser for his dignified burial. Leanne praised Bradley, portraying him as a remarkable man, a loving father, and the love of her life.
Due to the unacceptable state of her Grand Junction home, Leanne was forced to leave in January 2024. Following the removal of Leanne's possessions and garbage by the new owners, they sold a deep freezer to a nearby resident. During the cleaning of the freezer, a bag containing Amanda Overstreet's head fell out onto the ground.
Amanda's classmates and friends are devastated by this tragic conclusion. While a few family members made efforts to search for her, most of her relatives have stayed quiet. Numerous unanswered questions remain, and it is crucial for Amanda to receive justice.
